NuovAtlanta Concert

NuovAtlanta Concert Announcement

I’m pleased to announce my upcoming concert of new music!

I’ll be singing 7 songs composed within the past 5 years. The writing is lyrical with soaring melodies, and the poetry is by turns evocative, thought-provoking, and inspirational!

Program

Steep Trails by Leslie LaBarre features an excerpt from Chapter 11 of “The San Gabriel Mountains” from John Muir’s series of essays, “Steep Trails.” Visit Leslie’s website for more information about her and her music.

“Under the Night Sky” is a song that meditates on the wonder and beauty of the Infinite by composer James Gibson.

“Dark Moon” is the first song in a cycle of the same name by composer Dana Dimitri Richardson. The poetry and music capture the power of the moon as it draws the tides and our hearts with its gravity.

My friend and colleague Howard Keever has written a song cycle titled Dreams featuring poetry from Langston Hughes’s “jazz period.” I’ll be singing 4 of the 6 songs: “The Dream Keeper,” “Dreams,” “Love song for Antonia,” and “I dream a world.”

“The Dream Keeper” by Howard Keever featuring Ellena Hogrefe, mezzo-soprano and Rolando Salazar, piano.

World Oceans, a non-profit whose mission is “Exploring the arts in hidden corners” is the concert sponsor.
