On Saturday, March 11, 2017, I had the privilege of singing excerpts from the opera Carmen by Bizet with the Atlanta Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by my friend and colleague Amy Wilson at North Decatur Presbyterian Church.
In the concert, titled “C’est la vie!” we had a great cast of characters! I sang the title role of Carmen, along with Wanda Yang Temko, soprano as Michaela; Jaqueline McCurdy, soprano as Mercèdes; and Tim Miller, tenor as Don José.
We told the story of the entire opera in musical excerpts, including these arias and ensembles: Habanera, Love Duet, Seguidilla, Gypsy Song, Card Trio, and Je dis. Below are live recordings and the one photo I have of the event. (Because you can’t sing and selfie at the same time!)
Thanks to everyone for such a great evening of drama and music!
